For Growth and Profits
Every business must adapt to the change to meet the needs of customers, employees, suppliers and their own – growth & profits.
Lean is a time-tested holistic business practice. It is about designing and managing the organisational system which continuously focuses on developing scientific thinking among people and engaging them for improving, stabilizing and standardizing the processes to ensure satisfied customers, growth & profitability.
The fundamental principle behind becoming a Lean practicing enterprise or a Lean organisation is brilliantly described by Shoichiro Toyoda, ex-President of the Toyota Motors, “reducing waste for improving value addition”. Like he said, “waste is anything other than the optimum amount of equipment, materials, parts, space, and people’s time, which are absolutely essential to add value to the product”.
By perfecting the principle of developing people for continuously finding and eliminating waste every day, everywhere, year on year, Toyota Motors became the largest automaker in 2008 leaving behind the likes of Big-3 – General motors (GM), Ford & Chrysler. After studying the Toyota Production System, Dr Jeff Liker, Professor Emeritus of Industrial and Operations Engineering, University of Michigan described the system through “The 14 principles” or “4Ps” in his book, The Toyota Way.

Jeffry Liker, The Toyota Way
P 1 – Philosophy: Long Term Philosophy
P 2 – People & Partners: Improve value addition by developing people & partners
P 3 – Process: Right processes will produce the right results, every time
P 4 – Problem Solving: Continuously solve root cause to drive organisational learning
